Introduction

Every aspect of life at Bethany aims to contribute to student wellbeing. We believe that the emotional and physical wellbeing of our students is pivotal to their success at school, as adolescents, and in their future lives. Physically and emotionally healthy students are happy, able to deal positively with life’s challenges, experience a sense of connectedness with the school and others and are well placed to develop into well balanced and successful young adults.

At Bethany we acknowledge that attention to the wellbeing of self and others is vital to personal and community helth and aids positive decision-making and future success.

During recess and lunchtimes children have access to both passive and active play areas. Lunchtime clubs, such as Chess Club, Drawing Club and Gizmos and Gadgets, offer alternatives to outside play.

Indeed every aspect of life at Bethany aims to contribute to student wellbeing.

At Bethany we promote and enhance all aspects of student wellbeing – the social, emotional, spiritual, physical, cognitive and academic self. At the heart of the school is an educational environment which promotes the schools core values and recognises their importance in developing the wellbeing of all.

In ensuring nurturing relationships, each child belongs to both a Learning Centre and Hub group. Centre environments provide opportunities for children to work with others across the centre, extending social and academic relationships. Teachers also belong to Centre communities who come to know, care for and teach each child.

There are four distinct centres, designed around the stages of development. A School Leader in each centre works alongside a Centre Leader and team of teachers, providing targetted learning opportunities for students. Creativity and innovation, critical thinking and problem solving, communication and collaboration, information, media and ICT, along with core subjects are taught and developed across the Foundation to Year 6 levels.
